Good on Altman for saying something.

Just finished reading Sam Altman’s “The Gentle Singularity,” and—it’s worth your time. We’re about to unleash some serious tech with AI, and Altman knows it. It’s “Einstein meets Oppenheimer”— here’s a massive breakthrough, and oh yeah, it will change the world.
The nuclear parallel fits here. Nuclear power brought immense scientific gains—and planetary destroying bombs. Same with AI. Immense upside. And real, planetary risk. It’s not subtle. We’re messing with systems-level intelligence.
Good on Altman for saying something. CEOs usually go mute when stakes get existential. Let’s be honest—the bar is fucking low. But hey, he’s at least talking publicly. This conversation needs to be public and ongoing. There is only profit to be made keeping these conversations private.
