It’s entertaining, accessible and offers an endless buffet of sensational, absurd, pretty, and funny content. All of it is at your fingertips, streamed non-stop to your smartphone.

TikTok has undoubtedly redefined the landscape of digital interaction, presenting itself as the most potent distribution platform in human history. Free, vast, and micro-targeted, it offers brands an unprecedented opportunity for reach and visibility regardless of scale. The rule of the game is simple: keep posting content, and eventually, something will strike gold, catapulting you to fame and fortune.

However, a more subtle narrative looms amidst TikTok’s rousing applause and awe-inspiring success story. While a treasure trove of entertainment and opportunity, the platform also steadily poisons our attention spans.

The instant gratification that platforms like TikTok provide is slowly but surely edging out our patience for anything that takes a bit longer to unfold.

I’ve made a conscious decision to stay outside the TikTok sphere of influence, and I invite you to consider the implications of this platform on your attention span.
